Access to Walker Gap Cave Preserve is by permit only at this time. Details with directions to the preserve, where to park, and how to find the cave will be sent via email once your permit is approved. Currently, preserve access is limited to the cave. Wandering into the woods is prohibited at this time. If you’re visiting during hunting season (November through February) please wear bright orange. Entering the preserve without a valid permit is prohibited. The property is under 24hr live video surveillance, and trespassers will be prosecuted.
Never cave alone. Groups of 3 or more are required for permit approval. Always let somebody above ground know your plans, and check in with them when you reach the surface. Vertical rope and caving proficiency is strongly recommended to safely enter and exit Morrison's Cave. Access via ladder is strongly discouraged due to the uneven and wet rock surfaces at the bottom of the 22' entrance pit. If you choose to use a ladder to enter and exit the cave, you do so at your own risk and by doing so you assume all responsibility for the risk and/or injuries that you and/or the members of your party might incur due to your decision.
Like it says above: take only pictures, leave only footprints, and kill only time. Unfortunately past visitors have left a lot more than footprints in Morrison’s Cave, and the main entry room is long overdue for a cleanup. If going forward visitors honor this code and leave without a trace, we can continue to keep Morrison’s open to the public for future generations to enjoy. If you'd like to volunteer to take part in one of our cave cleanup days, contact us via the email at this bottom of this page.
